Colorful Maximalist Wedding at Jardin del Sol | Snohomish, WA

When you think of weddings in the Pacific Northwest, you may immediately think of earthy tones, neutral colors, and endless shades of blue, green, beige, and brown. And don’t get me wrong: I adore a good earth-inspired color palette that brings out the stunning shades we so often find in our beautiful corner of the world. But when I had the idea for this colorful styled wedding at Jardin del Sol, I knew it was going to become a new favorite of mine—and that it would hopefully give couples permission to think outside of the box a little. . . or better yet, think across the whole rainbow 🌈

Colorful Maximalist Wedding at Jardin del Sol

Kenny and Isabel were our dream-come-true models for this styled celebration, offering up just the type of undeniable, unbreakable love we were hoping to capture with every photograph, every flower, every color, and every touch of decor. This shoot was about passion; about bringing to life every unique aspect of a couple’s personality and story together—the good, the bad, the light, the dark, and everything in between. Highlighting every shade of the rainbow and taking the opportunity to cultivate a day overflowing with energy, life, and love shared between two gems of humans.

I think when couples consider the idea of a colorful wedding day, or a vibrant, bold color palette, they often get nervous about colors clashing, or being “too much;” “too bright.” Because if there is anything social media has (unfortunately) taught us over the years, it’s that weddings are supposed to be a place to show up, show off, and make your day the “best”. . . when, in reality, weddings are supposed to be the exact opposite: an authentic representation of your story, removing any and all feelings of competition, comparison, or jealousy. There is no such thing as your wedding being “too much,” whether you opt for classy neutrals or endless pops of color—so I beg you not to let those insecurities stop you from considering all your options.

If you have the right team of experts beside you to bring your vision to life, and curate a unique experience filled with color, life, and spirit, then you’ll never need to worry about clashing or patterns or textures. . . vendors are good at what they do for a reason. Take the decor from this shoot, for example: I can count nine different colors in the flat lay photos—and instead of conflicting with each other, every color played its own role in creating a dazzlingly maximalist scene. Lilac, rust orange, violet blue, mustard yellow, pale pink, olive green, and even a few pops of white blended together beautifully to highlight the brides’ jewelry, stationery, shoes, and ever-so-stylish accessories.

Putting together the florals for this early fall shoot was a dream, with zero restrictions on the amount of color I played around with—pops of hot pink and vibrant yellow were the stars of Kenny and Isabel’s bridal bouquets, elevated with luxurious whites, creams, and pale purples surrounded by loose greenery. These bouquets wowed against the rich greens of the venue, looking bright and beautiful in every corner of the secluded garden atmosphere. Kenny’s disco ball tattoo sitting just above her detachable sleeves added an extra fun touch to the vivid colors of these autumn florals!
