Soft sandy shores, lush green hills, shimmering blue waters, and the smell of the sea in the air. . . I’m not sure anything beats tying the knot on an island off the scenic coast of Washington. In this guide, I’ll be giving you a list of the best island wedding venues in Washington, as well as floral recommendations, travel tips, and the #1 way to make your celebration unforgettable. Let’s dive right in—ocean pun fully intended.

Best Florals for a Washington Island/Coastal Wedding

Summer Island Wedding Florals

Juicy oranges with pinks and yellows will always be a big yes from me. . . especially when paired with coastal blues and summer peaches. Sweet peas, lupine, ranunculus, roses, peonies, spirea, poppies, and other summer treasures are delightful choices for your summer island wedding, and will be perfectly in-season

Fall Island Wedding Florals

Don’t let the gray skies and 70% chance of rain fool you—there’s still an abundance of color available for your fall island wedding! In September and October, especially, dahlias and zinnias really pop off. And if those don’t give you enough color, we’ve still got roses, amaranth, asters, mums, cosmos, celosia, and vibrant fall foliage. All of which provide the most beautiful, warm tones to complement the blues and neutral palette of the coastal landscapes!

Winter Island Wedding Florals

If you want a shot at getting fresh, local flowers for your winter island wedding, it’s best to book flowers early! We have to let growers know well in advance. Pair lush greenery with seasonal treasures like berries, vines, branches, and other textures that bring out the shapes, movement, and patterns of the coastal terrain all around you.

Pro tip: Candles are going to be your best friend on those gloomy winter days along the coast. Don’t skimp! Use candles of varying height and styles. Pair them with specialty lighting for an extra dose of cozy island vibes!

Spring Island Wedding Florals

In the springtime, I love using precious, dainty spring stems like lily of the valley, muscari, and pansies. In coastal-inspired wedding designs, they shine brightest in petite bouquets and en masse in table displays. Other spring loves of mine include fritillaria persica, lilac, tulip “wyndham” (my favorite this year), bleeding heart, butterfly ranunculus, and the year’s first sweet peas.

Of course, I have a guide to spring wedding colors and flowers for you!

Most Beautiful Island Wedding Venues in Washington

The Manor House at Pleasant Beach | Bainbridge Island

Nestled on the southern shores of Bainbridge Island, the Manor House at Pleasant Beach is the ultimate destination for a romantic Washington island wedding! With space to accommodate up to 150 guests, the manor offers a perfect getaway for you and your loved ones, whether guests are traveling from afar or from just across the water. Boasting a gorgeous, 1920’s Tudor style and incredible waterfront views, the Manor House has a wide range of beautiful spots to tie the knot, to host your reception, and to immerse yourselves in the PNW island life. Along with the outdoor spaces, they’ve got a dreamy covered solarium for indoor celebrations, as well as overnight accommodations on-site at The Inn at Pleasant Beach Village!

Captain Whidbey | Whidbey Island

If your perfect wedding feels more like an upscale camping adventure than a formal celebration, you are going to adore Captain Whidbey Hotel. It’s been a haven for nature-lovers, both locals and visiting, since 1907, and embodies everything we love about the Pacific Northwest: endless natural beauty, tranquil landscapes, meaningful community, and rugged adventure. Captain Whidbey offers full property buyouts, which I highly recommend doing if you’d like the property to yourselves, including 30 guest rooms and cabins, as well as 6 acres of gorgeous grounds. The property can fit up to 125 guests for your elevated camp wedding, plus they’ve got an in-house catering team that specializes in locally-sourced ingredients and PNW flavors. Speaking my language!

IslandWood | Bainbridge Island

This one holds a special place in my heart, as it’s not only an amazing wedding venue but also an environmental education nonprofit dedicated to providing children with nature-based learning experiences. IslandWood is just a quick ferry ride from Seattle, but you’ll feel like you’re in a completely different world when you step onto the vast 250-acre property filled with forested trails, meadows, ponds, and gardens. There are endless ways to customize your wedding at IslandWood, from s’mores at the outdoor firepit to a pre-wedding buffet lunch, activities and nature experiences to dusk-till-dawn trail access. . . they’ve truly created an amazing space for couples and their guests to have the experience of a lifetime.

Plus, by hosting your wedding at IslandWood, you’ll enjoy meals crafted with garden-fresh ingredients, create an unforgettable celebration for everyone involved, and support their environmental education programs all at once! Win-win-win, as Michael Scott once said.

Fireseed Catering | Whidbey Island

Rustic island charm meets contemporary elegance at Fireseed Catering, a full-service wedding venue that was basically made for Whidbey Island destination weddings. When you tie the knot here, you’ll get 3 days of property access that turn your wedding into a full weekend celebration, with opportunities to explore the gorgeous, garden-filled 10-acre property, dine on farm-to-table dishes in their indoor venue space, and even pet their mini ponies. You heard me right, mini ponies! Personally, the floral and vegetable gardens are calling my name—as is the newly-renovated outdoor bar that’s ready for a party.

Rosario Resort | Orcas Island

Craving a wedding that allows you to reconnect with your people, with nature, and with yourselves? Rosario Resort is the place for you (although every venue on this list offers a wonderful chance to do this). Located on the shores of Orcas Island, Rosario Village has quite a few different places you can celebrate your love, including the historic Moran Mansion, the waterfront Event Center, and many outdoor lawns overlooking the water. You and your guests will be able to stay in one of the many cozy accommodations the village has to offer, and the views of Cascade Bay are to die for.

Saltwater Farm | Friday Harbor

Just minutes from Friday Harbor, Saltwater Farm overlooks the Salish Sea and the Olympics for the most stunning wedding day views you could dream up. With a spacious event barn, multiple scenic ceremony sites, picturesque nature trails, and a cozy inn on-site, this is a fabulous venue to spend a weekend at with your family for your Washington island wedding. You’ll have access to not only the amazing property itself, but also the most beautiful destinations in the San Juan Islands—whether you’d rather spend your day hiking or lounging around with a good book beneath the blue skies, this venue has something magical for everyone.

Roche Harbor Resort | Friday Harbor

There are many spectacular wedding venues on the islands off the Washington coasts, but I will end with Roche Harbor Resort for now so you don’t leave with a big ol’ dose of analysis paralysis! Roche Harbor provides a quintessential PNW experience for every visitor, one so well-regarded that they were actually awarded both the “Best Venue in Washington” and the “Best Resort Venue” by Washington Wedding Day for 2025. With a lush garden and chapel ceremony venue, a waterfront space ideal for welcome dinners, on-site catering with fresh PNW cuisine, and on-site accommodations, the historic resort venue has your entire celebration covered—meaning you can simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the views with everyone you love most.

3 Tips for Planning Your Washington Island Wedding

Next, let’s go through a few tips to keep in mind as you head further into the planning process for your Washington island destination wedding.

1. Travel + lodging

When choosing your venue, try to find a place that provides onsite lodging for you and at least a portion of your guests—such as an inn, resort, or even a barn/farm venue with cottages or cabins on the property. Your life will be a whole lot easier if you don’t need to transport yourselves or your guests to a different location on your wedding day. Plus, staying in the same place as everybody can make for some really wonderful, quality time with one another, exploring all that the area has to offer.

Travel-wise, be sure to do your research on the logistics of getting to your chosen venue + island beforehand, as you’ll likely need to plan for a ferry ride. You can find ferry timetables and fees on the WSDOT website here, and then figure out how you’ll be transported to your venue—do they offer a shuttle in your package? Will you be bringing your own car? What about guests who are flying in and don’t have their own cars?

2. Vendors

Sourcing vendors is one of the most important pieces of putting your destination island wedding together. You need vendors who will be able to execute your vision, and who you can trust to take the creative reins as needed. Finding local vendors is a big plus when it comes to planning your island wedding, as it’s always great to work with people who are familiar with the location and can make expert recommendations based on firsthand experience. I’d suggest asking any vendors you’ve already hired (photographer, planner, florist, etc.) for recommendations of industry folks they trust, as well as any friends or family who have previously gotten married in the area. Bonus points if vendors have already worked at your specific venue!

3. Weather

If you’re tying the knot on an island off the coast of Washington, chances are you’re not hoping for a warm, sunny, tropical wedding day—and if so, maybe consider California or Hawaii instead! The Washington coast is notoriously rainy, especially in the spring, winter, and fall months, so it’s essential that you plan for a rainy wedding day. Most of the island venues are used to dealing with unpredictable weather and wet conditions, so they’ll usually have some sort of indoor venue that you can use as a backup. You truly never know what you’re going to get, so it’s best to prepare both yourselves and your guests for a rainy wedding weekend to make sure everybody packs accordingly, and knows what to expect!

The #1 Way to Make Your Washington Island Wedding Unforgettable

Curious to know the secret to the most meaningful, memorable Washington island wedding possible? Turn it into a whole weekend affair, especially if your loved ones will be traveling from afar for a destination celebration. A traditional wedding day can be incredibly special, yes, but what if you could extend the festivities across multiple days, and really sink into the time you get with your people?

The time that you get with the people who will likely never be all in the same place again, with the people who mean the most to you and want to celebrate you for more than just 24 hours. I firmly believe that the best way to really get to know a place is to explore it without a rushed, strict timeline, and a full wedding weekend allows you to do just that: take advantage of everything your venue has to offer, adventure around the picturesque island landscapes, and create memories that you will all look back on down the road.

Many of the venues on this list (as well as similar island venues) include everything you need to have an unforgettable multi-day party: on-site accommodations, welcome parties, send-off brunches, on-site and off-site activities + excursions, in-house dining, cozy lodging. . . these venues were designed for you and your loved ones to relax, connect, and enjoy this time in community together. What a beautiful way to celebrate not just the love shared between the two of you, but between your people.

Plus, designing florals for a multi-day affair is always extra fun for me ;) (yes, you can—and should—have florals present at every part of your celebration to enhance your venue, from welcome dinner to farewell brunch!)
