Eclectic Garden Maximalist Wedding at the Corson Building

Eclectic, expressive, and wildly romantic… this is what happens when you embrace the season and trust your floral designer. It’s also what happens when you get married in the early weeks of Pacific Northwest summer at one of the loveliest intimate wedding venues in Seattle: the Corson Building. Dreaming up this styled celebration was just the labor of love I needed to kick off the busy summer season on a vibrant, joyful, and inspired note—especially thanks to the wonderful folks I got to work with along the way!

Tierney + Caleb’s Summer Wedding at the Corson Building

A thoughtfully-designed summer affair

Nothing kicks my creativity into gear like a carefully-curated styled shoot alongside some of the most talented people I know. Bonus points if I get to play a significant role in the design of it all—which fortunately, I did in this case! What started as a little spark of an idea turned into a fully fleshed out, breathtaking intimate wedding that would quickly become one of my favorite shoots of the summer. Perfectly designed for a couple who craves an intentional, elevated celebration, every bit of this shoot was full of life, color, curiosity, and a hint of whimsy at every turn.

I mean, come on. . . how gorgeous are the little butterflies that covered the corners of the dinner menus? The bride’s high heels with elegant calla lily straps? The dainty floral designs sprinkled across the elegant stationery suite? Like I said: subtle hints of whimsy everywhere. You don’t always need a big centerpiece or a fancy reception hall full of intricately-designed tablescapes; sometimes the luxury is in the little things, and that’s all you need to elevate a room.

A case for elevated garden maximalism

I’ve clearly got a thing for garden party weddings, and I’m not ashamed of it. Spring garden party weddings. Fall garden party weddings. Garden party weddings at big venues, small venues, backyard venues. Minimalist, maximalist, you name it and I’ll be there, flowers in tow. . . in this case, maximalism was at the heart of my vision, and is what the rest of the decor revolved around. Seasonal flowers that felt like they belonged, that were right at home with the lush summer foliage that surrounded us.

Now don’t get me wrong: there’s nothing wrong with minimalist wedding designs! In fact, there’s something so lovely and meaningful about the desire to simplify the details + communicate a message through neutral tones, patterns, and details—but vibrant colors, layered textures, and mixed patterns are where my heart lies right now. There’s nothing I crave more than mixing two textures together that don’t seem like they’d work, but somehow pair seamlessly; than curating a luxury color palette that balances subtle pastels with bold, bright shades; than adding depth with layers upon layers of greenery, blooms, and branches to create so much more than just a bouquet but an art piece in itself.

Stationery infused with coral ribbon, lilac paper, and textured edges; bouquets brimming in the most brilliant summer shades of magenta, scarlet, mustard, rose, and periwinkle; bridesmaid’s dresses overflowing with more colors, more flowers, more patterns. Endless elements that you wouldn’t think could ever blend together without being too much. And yet somehow, it all seems to work together in the end—magical, isn’t it?

I want your wedding day to feel just like these gorgeous girlies did when they toasted glasses from the champagne tower: fun, elegant, carefree, boundless, special, and full of love. After all, why should you have to settle for anything less?

About Seattle Weddings at the Corson Building

If you’re drooling over the venue where this shoot was held, you’re in luck—it’s right in the heart of Seattle and available for your own celebration, too!

The Corson Building is a favorite of mine for many reasons, one obviously being the stunning atmosphere it provides for intimate weddings—but another being the heart behind the venue and its mission. Every element of the home was constructed with a love for the Pacific Northwest in mind, and the dining experience offered at the venue is no different. You know your girl uses only local and seasonal flowers in her designs (find out why here!), so to work with a venue that places such a focus on locally, thoughtfully-sourced ingredients is a true gift.

Weddings at the Corson Building include the rental of the venue for private use, as well as food and beverages for each and every one of your guests to enjoy. Facility fees start at $1,500 per event for summer weekday weddings, with food and bev minimums ranging from $8,000-$12,000 for weekend gatherings. There is no wrong time of year to tie the knot here, so whether you’re planning a winter wedding or a springtime soiree, the Corson Building is a gem of a venue that you should absolutely, absolutely consider!
